What’s Your Training Looks Like

Reef Monitoring Nusa Penida

Join us for a thrilling underwater journey with our Reef Monitoring Nusa Penida program! This exciting 6-day adventure brings you into the rich underwater world with ten amazing dives and lots of fun.

Indonesia’s stunning seas, home to over 3,000 unique fish and 590 coral species, may seem like a lot to take in. But don’t worry! Our program makes this huge variety of life easy to understand and fun to identify.

We start our journey by diving into coral reef ecology and how to identify different species. As the days pass, we expand your knowledge and fine-tune your skills, teaching you how to use reef health monitoring methods like Coral Watch and Point Intercept Transect (PIT). By the end of the program, you’ll have hands-on skills and valuable knowledge, turning you into a true champion for reef conservation. Now, let’s take a look at the daily plan for the “Reef Monitoring Nusa Penida” adventure!

The program starts with a classroom session where we learn about the captivating world of coral reefs. We’ll look at different types of coral, learn how to identify them and understand what role each one plays.

Day 2 brings more excitement as we start identifying fish and invertebrates. We’ll simplify the thousands of species into groups you can easily understand. Indeed, you will get the rush of identifying real species during the day’s 2 dives.

Day 3 introduces us to Coral Watch’s Reef Health Monitoring method. This worldwide group leads the way in keeping track of reef health and bleaching. Today, we’ll get hands-on practice with this important survey technique.

Day 4 takes us to the Point Intercept Transect (PIT) method, a trusted way to survey coral. Here, as we dive into the clear blue waters, we’ll practice this method by recording substrates, fish, and invertebrates along a line.

Day 5 throws us into the world of the photo quadrat method, another key coral survey technique. We’ll dive deep, cameras ready, to capture the details of the mesmerizing underwater kingdom.

Our program wraps up on Day 6 with our final two dives, strengthening our training in coral survey methods. Back at the dive centre, we’ll work together to analyze and record the data we collected on this amazing trip.

This program isn’t simply an experience, it’s a mission, changing you from a spectator to a protector of our captivating ecosystems. It’s time to dive in and make a real difference!
