Experience of a Lifetime

Try Diving with Manta Rays Penida

If scuba diving is on your list but you aren’t sure about certification, then try Discover Scuba Diving Penida. It certainly is an experience of a lifetime and is definitely addictive. Nusa Penida Island offers incredible conditions all year round with daily sightings of the Majestic Manta ray. The ocean is crystal clear from top to bottom,

and the coral reef below is abundant and full of life. Although this course is not a full diving certification, it is however a great introduction to what you can expect. It provides the perfect glimpse into the underwater world and the magic it holds. Having said this, most people instantly love it and as a result, complete their PADI Open Water Course without delay.

Getting up close with a Manta ray during your first scuba experience is certainly a jackpot. Manta Point, one of our favorite dive sites, offers consistent sightings on a daily basis. Indeed, they are majestic and of course, they are HUGE! Reef Manta rays can measure up to 5.5 meters wide. Keep in mind that they are completely harmless and only like to feast on microscopic plankton. Manta rays are often confused with Sting rays, however, the Manta doesn’t have a stinger on its tail. They are curious and friendly creatures who want to look at us like we want to look at them. They will smile for the camera if you are respectful of their space. Here on Nusa Penida, the Reef Manta is the resident, whereas the Oceanic Manta dwells in other parts of Indonesia. The oceanic Manta can measure up to 8.8 meters wide.

Discover Scuba Diving Penida Course Structure

An ideal situation for your DSD experience would be to complete both theory and pool 1 day before the ocean. In this case, we would start the training at approximately 2 pm and finish at roughly, 4 pm. On the following day, we will then take you out for 2 ocean dives. Depending on conditions, the boat will probably arrive back in between 1 and 3 pm. As mentioned, this scenario would be best as it will give you the opportunity to practice more and not feel too rushed. It is important to gain confidence before we head out into the ocean. Keep in mind that if you need to leave the Island at the end of day 2, you can. We will be happy to assist you with organizing your transportation. You will be back in Bali in no time after experiencing 2 magical dives with the Manta Rays.

Our plans don’t always stay on track at all times. Situations change and things happen that are out of our control, however, we have solutions. In the event that you cannot complete the theory and pool session 1 day before diving, no worries. Depending on when the boat is scheduled to head out, we can do the training beforehand. You will probably need to set an early alarm clock to get your day started. Your instructor will conduct the theory and pool sessions with you first thing. Thereafter, we will head out for 2 ocean dives and will arrive back at around 3 pm. For those needing to get back to Bali on the same day, we will help organize your fast boat at 5.00 pm. Important to remember that this option is not always available. The availability is subject to the dive boat schedules and sea conditions.
